Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BamHI--5.7; SalI--5.7; PstI--4.3, 1.5; PvuII--3.0, 1.8, 1.08.
The insert contains exon 2 which does not occur in the majority of human message. The insert will make functional enzyme if linked to a competent promoter. It hybridizes with pseudogenes. To define this region, genomic clones are also necessary.
The clone was constructed by splicing together sequences from pAS4, pAS1 (exon 1 and flank), and pAS9.
